Join Rally to Support Sen. Warren and Student Loan Refinancing

Friday, September 5th
12 Noon- 1PM
Outside of Sen. Warren’s Office
15 Sudbury Street, Boston

Join together with local activists to support Senator Elizabeth Warren, and her bill “The Bank on Students Emergency Refinancing Act”. We will be gathering at NOON outside Sen. Warren’s office to show our support for student loan refinancing, and to thank the Senator for her continued efforts!

Massachusetts residents owe more than $24,000,000,000 (that’s billion!) in student debt, much of it at high interest rates. By passing Sen. Warren’s refinancing bill, we can assist 581,000 Massachusetts residents alone! Private banks and the federal government have been making a ton of money on these loans, while the future prospects of 25 million American borrowers and the nation’s economy are undermined.

PHENOM (the Public Higher Education Network of Massachusetts), together with other groups, is determined to do something about the student debt crisis this year!

They are kicking off the school year with a rally outside Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s office in Boston. We encourage our members to join their efforts to highlight student debt reform, and to thank the senator for her commitment to this issue. She has introduced a bill that would allow a huge number of student loan borrowers to refinance their loans – both government and private – at a lower interest rate. The Bank on Students Emergency Loan Refinancing Act will be voted on in September, and we need to support Sen. Warren during her push to bring the bill to law!

Join PHENOM, Jobs with Justice, Campaign for a Debt-Free Future, Generation Progress, Higher Ed Not Debt and others to:

• Unveil new research on the causes and consequences of student debt in Massachusetts, and creatively bring media attention to the crisis

• Show support for Sen. Warren’s legislation and thank her for her efforts

• Engage downtown Boston in a discussion of student debt
