NYSR
New York Students Rising (NYSR) is a statewide network of students and campus-organizations dedicated to defending public higher education and empowering students in New York State. NYSR began in May of 2011 in response to tuition increases and budget cuts at the State University of New York and the City University of New York. NYSR has helped win the removal of the Shale Gas Research Institute after it's ties to the fracking industry were discovered. In addition, NYSR campuses have won gender neutral housing and have gender identity included in campus non-discrimination policy.
